چکیده

This study investigates the use of cognitive architectures for usability and software engineering of notification system user interfaces. These interfaces, which are special in that they are used in a divided-attention situation, require careful study of multi-tasking support of the information design. Cognitive architectures appear promising for this type of research, since they attempt to model human information processing characteristics related to system events. Three versions of cognitive architectures are compared according to criteria that would support research of notification systems. Data is gathered from empirical observation and is used to draw conclusions about suitability for modeling notification interfaces (and thus reducing the expense of user testing). The findings show that no system is ideal, but a combination of features from each of the three systems may be an ideal future

Neuro-ACT Cognitive Architecture Applications in Modeling Driver’s Steering Behavior in Turns

Cognitive Architectures (CAs) are the core of artificial cognitive systems. A CA is supposed to specify the human brain at a level of abstraction suitable for explaining how it achieves the functions of the mind. Over the years a number of distinct CAs have been proposed by different authors and their limitations and potentials were investigated. These CAs are usually classified as symbolic and...

Large-scale content based publish, subscribe systems

Today, the architecture of distributed computer systems is dominated by client/server platforms relying on synchronous request/reply. This architecture is not well suited to implement information-driven applications like news delivery, stock quoting, air traffic control, and dissemination of auction bids due to the inherent mismatch between the demands of these applications and the characterist...

World survey of artificial brains, Part II: Biologically inspired cognitive architectures

A number of leading cognitive architectures that are inspired by the human brain, at various levels of granularity, are reviewed and compared, with special attention paid to the way their internal structures and dynamics map onto neural processes. Four categories of Biologically Inspired Cognitive Architectures (BICAs) are considered, with multiple examples of each category briefly reviewed, an...

Reliability and Performance Evaluation of Fault-aware Routing Methods for Network-on-Chip Architectures (RESEARCH NOTE)

Nowadays, faults and failures are increasing especially in complex systems such as Network-on-Chip (NoC) based Systems-on-a-Chip due to the increasing susceptibility and decreasing feature sizes. On the other hand, fault-tolerant routing algorithms have an evident effect on tolerating permanent faults and improving the reliability of a Network-on-Chip based system. This paper presents reliabili...
